If you like your grind simple, stripped down to the bare steel beams, festooned with thrash beats and seething slow parts, and delivered with clinical precision, THIRD DEGREE is your next essential purchase, easily slotted in with NASUM and those pissed-off recent NAPALM DEATH albums. On the chopping block is a quick half-hour of vein-bursting intensity from these Polish grind merchants, and it may not be the most original thing you've ever heard, but its simplicity and teeth-bared ferocity make it a worthy purchase nonetheless.

"Divine Integrity" has a bit of that "Suffer the Children" swing to it, along with a few weird chords in the midsection that instantly send critics scrambling for GODFLESH and NEUROSIS comparisons (brooding closer "Zamieniê" really fuels these as well). Basically, if you like NAPALM DEATH, though, you'll like this, whether it's dissonantly skronking or delivering bruising blast beats and atavistic political sloganeering.

There's not much else to say about THIRD DEGREESelfmadegod is rapidly proving to be a powerhouse of intelligent, brutal eastern European deathgrind, and "Outstay" is a gut-level clusterbomb, the kind of album there'll always be room for, no matter how saturated the scene may get. Conviction and power will get you pretty far when the stakes are this extreme, and THIRD DEGREE have bleeding fistfuls of both.
